The Institute of Fundraising is the professional membership body that represents fundraising in the UK. Our mission is to support fundraisers through leadership, representation, standard setting and education, to deliver excellent fundraising.
It is our aim to ensure that fundraising and best practice take centre stage in charitable organisations. In order to do this we developed the Codes of Fundraising Practice; a practical reference and an essential resource for all people involved in fundraising. The Codes cover a broad range of fundraising techniques and issues, setting out legal issues and recommended practice.
Committed to raising standards in fundraising practice and management, the Institute works to shape policy and influence legislation, engaging with Government and other relevant bodies on behalf of our members on a broad range of issues that impact UK fundraising.
Striving to support and develop the knowledge and standards of all those who undertake fundraising, the Institute has developed an extensive range of conferences and training. The Institute’s Certificate in Fundraising Management is the UK’s only professional qualification for fundraisers.
The Institute represents over 4500 fundraisers and 280 fundraising organisations. Membership offers a wide range of support and information services for individuals and organisations involved in fundraising.
Individual membership is designed to provide you with the resources (for example a complimentary subscription to Third Sector), professional development opportunities (including discounts on National Convention) and support (such as access to a free legal helpline) to enable you to be as effective as possible. Our Individual membership levels are designed to reflect and acknowledge your commitment to best practice and your career in fundraising.
Organisational membership demonstrates that your charity is a leader in the sector, committed to achieving the highest standards of fundraising practice. It also makes your agenda part of the Institute’s lobbying portfolio, ensuring your voice is heard at the highest level.
Corporate membership provides your company with a mark of best practice and demonstrates your commitment to working with not-for-profit and charitable organisations.
